Challenges and Issues in Reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions in Chhattisgarh

Adverse drug reaction monitoring is a dynamic clinical and scientific discipline to assure the safety of medicines and safeguard the health of population. The aim of the present retrospective study was to observe adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reporting system and assessment of ADRs at Pt. JNM Medical college, ADR monitoring Center (AMC), Raipur, Chhattisgarh. 26 ADRs were reported during May 2014 to Apr 2015 and 168 ADRs were reported in May 2015 to April 2016 to the National coordination center (NCC-PvPI). Antimicrobials were responsible for maximum ADRs amongst all medications in both years. At system organ class (SOC) skin and subcutaneous tissue manifestations had a major share. Awareness of Pharmacovigilance among the health care professionals (HCPs) by means of continuous medical educational intervention will update knowledge of on drug safety into their clinical practice and also brings a culture of ADR reporting
