This article aims to analyze the “Kinetoscópio Literário”, a series of short texts written by the Brazilian poet Elvira Gama and published in the Jornal do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro) under the pseudonym of “Edisonina” (from December/1894 until June/1895). Gama had already collaborated with two other carioca’s newspapers, where she wrote a very personal sportive chronicle: in the form of humorous letters sent to the papers by “Sinhá Miquelina”, a suburban lady. “Kinetoscópio” is also a humorous series, with the difference that it essays to turn the “kinetoscopic” images into words – the series is born few weeks after the Edison’s kinetoscope arrives in Rio.
