Socio Economic analysis of Indian cold desert region: A case study of Kaza, Lahual Spiti in Himachal Pradesh

Parameter required for socio-economic are important indicator of not only the very basic development stage of any economic, but also reflect the changes in the quality of life. To a great extent these will also reflect the change in the quality of life. To a great extent these will also reflect the achievements of the project i.e. people oriented. The technical and social economic component will contribute greatly towards a holistic development in project villages. Under socioeconomic aspects following aspects were covered: 1.Demographic profile, 2.Occupation pattern, and 3.Income and employment generation activities for women and disadvantage section. According to household survey it was revealed that the householders (Residence) living in these watersheds have 44% pucca and 56%semi pucca houses. Some of the householders i.e, 35% are having landline facility and almost 95% residence is making use of mobile telephones. Hence, means of electronic as well as satellite communication in this watershed found excellect. So for TV is concerned it is found that 90% residence are in use of TV sets. The means of transport through private owned vehicle found about 15%. Hence, overall economic condition vary from average to medium, may be due to unemployment, poor land, marginal income
