The health system in Peru corresponds to a mixed system because the goods come from both the public and private sectors. The sources of financing emanate from tax collection (sub public sector), contributions (social security) and private insurance. Although the process of universal insurance has been consolidated, this is not yet complete for the entire Peruvian population. Among its main weaknesses are the overlapping of networks, absence of complementarity of services and continuity of care, and impossibility of comprehensive care (1).
