The conflict in Syria has been going on for years and is not over yet. Iran has always been a major
player in the Syrian conflict, which is determined by its interests in the conflict. Iran’s fundamental interest in
the Syrian conflict is to safeguard the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. Its major interests in the conflict
include fighting the ISIS, working with Russia, and reaching a comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear
program and maintaining it.
