Minitas luchadoras: gender and public policies in empirical studies about the argentine police forces

The article offers a reflection about the controversies and challenges between the gender issues and the police force in Argentina. We began from the apparent contradiction between traditional femininity, represented by the figure of „minita?, and the legality and legitimacy that police woman displays to use the physic force, represented vulgarly in the activity of „fighting? against crime and criminals. After we disarm that affirmation and explore the experiences of women in the police forces, the article rebuilds the gender perspective in public force studies, the gender issues in the police profession, and the gender politics oriented to change the public agencies. This article was carried out based on a review of bibliographic production about police forces and institutional regulations, and complemented by empiric data produced in interviews to argentinian police women between 2009-2019.
