In this article,I will address three points to describe the contributions of feminist and gender theory to ethnographic knowledge and public policies. First, I will refer to the androcentric bias in the construction of classical anthropological theory, which not only marginalized the production of many anthropologists and ethnographers, but the issues considered of interest and the research questions were centered on a viewpoint that placed women in a subsidiary position. Second, I will refer to the innovative textual strategies constructed from discourses marginalized by discipline, by gender, class and ethno-racial belonging, and introduced by ethnographies produced from the periphery of the academic world; finally, I will refer to the local context to briefly analyze the origin of gender debates in Argentine anthropology, their recognition by funding agencies, the influence on the design and implementation of laws and public policies, and a mention of new debates and unresolved issues.
