In this article I introduce an international dating platform called Brazilcupid.com and discuss some general characteristics of its German members. Based on my correspondence with some of them, I bring the ups and downs of their online experiences, their previous experiences in Brazil and Latin America and their notions about Brazilian women and Brazil in comparison to their notionsabout German women and Germany. Such men sought changesto their lives. They lived the experience of internet dating in the hope of finding happiness for themselves. This, given through the realization of love, seemed at times to be related to nostalgic memories. On the one hand, related to a temporality of “complementary” gender relations, and, on the other hand, related to their own experiences in Latin America as young men. Their ideals of relationship with “corporal and emotional closeness” could not be reached with their countrywomen and they situated the peculiarities of Brazilian woman in regard to climate/nature and their different “education”.
