This study discusses the strategies used for dissemination of knowledge in research projects of the departments of Agronomy at State University of Mato Grosso, Brazil, characterizing their possible applicability and/or intention. First, telephone calls were made to all departments of Agronomy of the institution requesting their respective personal staff registration of professors. Then a search was made in the Lattes platform data (CNPq, research council) in order to check the research projects and their coordinators. As a research instrument were used questionnaires, which were sent to professors by e-mail, along with a note requesting a copy of the interest research projects. The ability to solve practical problems was the primary contributor to the direction of research projects, reaching 53.8% of responses. Similarly, it was noted that the preferred strategy for professors to disseminate the knowledge generated by their projects was the publication of scientific papers, which was present in 78.6% of the projects. Finally, it was found that the Plant Science is the knowledge area (CNPq) which has the largest number of research projects developed. Most research projects present strategies for dissemination of knowledge that do not reach the interested people. We conclude that the factors that influence professors to conduct research must be improved and the strategies of knowledge dissemination reformulate.
