AGRICULTURAL SUSTAINBILITY AGRICULTURAL GRADUATE COURSE AND THE PROJECT OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF CEARÁ

This paper aims to study the relation between the agricultural sustainability under the view of the graduation of an agronomer practiced in the agronomy course of the Federal University of Ceará, Pici Campus, Fortaleza, CE, Brazil. The study was motivated by the opportunity of penetrating in a rarely explored professional environment, which is the academic education. Therefore, a qualitative research was made, outlined in the case study, with a descriptive approach, using semi- structured interview as instrument. Interviews with professors, graduates and students took place. The data was processed in the informational qualitative analysis program NUD*IST. The theoretical base views the sustainable rural development, agronomy engagement with the sustainability and the profile of the Agronomy educator according to Paulo Freire´s point of view. The data made a long description of the results and discussion of the analyzed categories possible involving the researched subjects. From the conclusion, it is highlighted the education influenced by technicism and, above all, the agronomy knowledge related to Agroecology and family agriculture, as the gaps and demands which were not contemplated in the investigated curriculum and the graduation project does not make the necessary professionalism possible to attend neither the challenges nor the current and emerging demands of the rural area, according to 81% of the interviewed subjects.
