Agriculture is going through a crisis related to high costs of inputs derived from petroleum, allied to this we can see trends for healthier nutrition and for protection of the environment. Sustainability, therefore, appears as a means of combining these two desires, because you want to use more natural methods in commercial agriculture - agribusiness. This article discusses the agropolo as an alternative for sustainable rural development in rural communities, using sustainability as a premise. To this end, we used the literature and documentary books, articles, reports and web sites that deal with the subject studied. The research shows that sustainability included as a model in agropolo is an important factor to achieve the form of development that has as an objective to maintain natural resources for future generations and aggregate economic production process.
