This work aimed to evaluate nutrient cycling, through deposition, stock and litter decomposition in a remnant of riparian forest in the Rio Gurguéia Basin. The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Bom Jesus-PI in an area of 17,8 ha of savanna vegetation. To estimate the amount of litter produced were used 15 wood collectors 1.00 m x 1.00 m, listed and distributed along transects. The thrust litter was estimated in both seasons (summer and winter) taken with the aid of a hollow wood frame of 0.5 m x 0.5 m. In the evaluation of decomposition were distributed 12 nylon bags on the soil surface in each collector box, and removed a bag of each collector each month. The litter producti ¹. The higher deposition occurred in the dry season. The thrust litter showed higher accumulation in the dry season (summer) where the leaf fraction showed the highest accumulation. The highest rate of decomposition was observed during the rainy season, which offered good conditions for the activity of microorganisms. The deposition, stock and decomposition were influenced by rainfall.
