IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology (IJOR) is a biannual published journal formerly known as "Journal of Indian Orthopaedic Rheumatology Association" It covers all aspects of the subject from basic science to clinical management as well the broad areas of the epidemiology related to orthopaedic Rheumatology. It is a peer-reviewed journal & is essential reading for orthopaedic surgeon interested in the subject. It is the leading source for original clinically oriented articles on art and science rheumatology and its surgery. This specialty of orthopaedics deals with arthritis, autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal pain disorders including Tuberculosis, metabolic bone diseases, soft tissue tumors & disorders. This journal is very important for the academic information about the advances in the field of orthopaedic rheumatology, mainly medical, surgical part of rheumatoid and various other associated arthritis, osteoarthritis, infective arthritis, Osteonecrosis, Osteoporosis with osteoporotic fractures, spondyloarthropathies, tumour-like lesions of joints and periarticular structures ,various soft tissue & musculoskeletal disorders and role of Regenerative science in all the above mentioned conditions. The biggest challenge in the developing countries like India is a limited number of specialists with rheumatology training especially in semi-urban and rural areas and this is the main reason for IJOR formation. The IJOR aims to create awareness among orthopaedic surgeons for proper treatment and newer development in this Field. IJOR create and develop international scientific relation with rheumatology. IJOR favour as well as stimulate all efforts to do the research work. We all very well know that the realistic goal of early management of polyarthritis could be achieved with early patient presentation and increased awareness both on the part of patient and treating consultant. For taking care of joint disorders orthopedic surgeons must update themselves. The Journal will promote all research articles, case reports, trend articles presenting new research ideas, preclinical research articles showing theoretical or experimental knowledge contributing to the development of a treatment modality and over & above to cater all needs of orthopedic surgeons interested in orthopaedic rheumatology. The journal provides regular reviews by acknowledged experts, will cover peer-reviewed articles and also provide a forum for discussion with letters to the Editors. This journal is open barrier-free access to the literature which gives International readership larger than that of any subscription-based journal and this probably increases the visibility and impact of the published work. It provides a platform for the authors to make their contribution towards the Journal. Authors may submit manuscripts and the review process is done by the editorial board members of clinical research on Foot and Ankle. The increasing role of Orthopaedic rheumatology research will defiantly go a long way in diagnosing, managing & characterization of various mentioned disorders. IJOR is published in every June and December in a year. Aim & Scope: We are going to have bi-annual IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology as it disperses the information about the activities and the programmes of the association. Moreover, journal is very important for the academic information about the advances in the diagnosis and the treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders (RMSK). Orthopaedic surgeons are the mainstay in dealing with such problems as large number of patients do reach them, as their number is far more and they are widely spread over the country than rheumatologists, which are only available in small number in metros. RMSK disorders are on increase with the passage of time. People have increased life expectancy because of overall advances in diagnosis and treatment of the medical conditions and the awareness of these in the media and otherwise. The infectious diseases are on the decline due to better control. The cardiac problems will be on the decline by 2025 due to the availability of the treatment, treating personnel and awareness of dreadness of the condition. Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis with other RMSK disorders are on increase and there is a pessimistic approach to these, as these are age-related and the paucity of treatment. There is an added burden of arthritis due to infections such as chikungunya and dengue etc. This further adds interest to unravel the relation between microbes and arthritis. Orthopaedics has advanced vastly in the last four decades when the development of arthroscopy, joint replacement, internal fixation of fractures and external fixators have added to the armamentorium of the orthopaedics surgeon. But the challenge becomes more formidable as you deal with the bone and joints and musculoskeletal tissues in rheumatic and muscular disorders. The bones are osteoporotic and other ligamentous tissues and tendons are also diseased. So, the surgery is much more challenging in these patients. In rheumatological disorders, joint deformities in the hand and foot put the patient into a lot of difficulties in day to day activities and the surgery on correction of these deformities and the small joint arthroplasty are further challenging. The experience of these treatments can be put forward in this journal. This will add to the knowledge of members of our association. The bones in rheumatic disorders are osteoporotic, like in cases of osteoporosis and some research is also needed on the implants, which in addition to providing stability, should have osteo-conductive properties also. These implants are hydroxy-appetite coated and even bone cement can be supplimented in osteoporotic fractures. There are plates with locking screws, which helps further in fixation even there are external fixators where the pins are hydroxy-coated to have more stable and biological fixation. The information in this regard and experience can be shared in this journal. The advances in medicine especially DMRD, BIOLOGICS, Regenerative/Stem cell therapy, physical therapy and the experience of the surgeon will find place in this journal. So, we look forward to its publication; hope that it will help our members to update their knowledge & skill, thus we see great scope for the publication of the journal..
