The Center for Research and Environmental Services, ECOVIDA under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, offers the scientific community the possibility of disseminating results through the Electronic Journal ECOVIDA. This has two annual outputs and the issues to consider for contributions are those related to the results of basic or applied research related to biodiversity, both in protected areas and outside them. Results of research on agricultural biodiversity are considered tambén of great interest to the journal, concepts and applications on sustainable development related to the management of biodiversity, with an emphasis on local experiences. Besides cultural and social approaches to biodiversity they are addressed; local and traditional knowledge and its integration into management strategies, experiences and initiatives in communication and conservation of biological diversity. Works on results obtained in the Museums of Natural History and Botanical Gardens are well considered for inclusion in the different numbers. Of great significance are the work related to results and applications in Agroecology and Agroforestry and the results of basic or applied on archaeological heritage related to the management of natural areas where there are investigations.
