Description: In this paper, we introduce some basic idea of Variational iteration method for short (VIM) to solve the Volterra’s integro-differential equations. The VIM is used to solve effectively, easily, and accurately a large class of non-linear problems with approximations which converge rapidly to accurate solutions. For linear problems, it’s exact solution can be obtained by only one iteration step due to the fact that the Lagrange multiplier can be exactly identified. It is to be noted that the Lagrange multiplier reduces the iteration on integral operator and also minimizes the computational time.

Description: A total of (198) isolates belong to (10) different genera of microorganisms were isolated from (30) fuel stations contaminated soil samples . The dominant genus was Pseudomonas and represents (23.7%) of the total isolates and the most frequently isolated strains among them were diagnosed as being Ps. oleovarans and Ps. formicans . The effect of these two strains on gas oil was studied by determining the relative viable counts of cells and hydrocarbon utilization using G.L.C. apparatus .

Description: In a heavy equipment hydraulic support system, the oil pressure must be a constant value. The hydraulic support system would not be stable due to disruption from the external environment and the running process; hence, we present a closed loop feedback system with an artificial neural network control system to stabilize the oil pressure by controlling the hydraulic pump motor’s rotational speed. The response and stability in this hydraulic system are key factors in determining whether the control method is successful or not .It demonstrate in our simulation that this artificial neural network system can meet the requirements of design. It has good properties of responseandstability.As the neural network mimics the functionality of the brain and can deal with the complexity and non-linearity of the system when properly trained. It should be remembered that the hydraulic control system is not appropriate for high speed cycling.ANN time series is chosen as a suitable tool to provide future driving condition based on past driving conditions and is used for dynamic programming to optimize energy management for a series of hydraulic hybrid vehicle.

Description: The objective of this research paper is to evaluate the effects of sag and tension on a 330kV transmission line network for equal and unequal level topographies. The selected upland for this study in Nigeria is the Asaba-Onitsha 330kV overhead transmission line network in the South-East while a level land topography from New Haven transmission network in Enugu to Abakaliki injection substation in Ebonyi state was considered in the Sag and Tension analysis. The resultant effect of increased temperature above the ambient value on the conductor span length and on the sag was presented. Simulation was carried out on the sag equation at different stages of temperature increase with corresponding changes in the span length for different wind loading. All simulation was carried out in Matlab 7.14.

Description: Four woody lianas- Bauhinia vahlii, Celastruspaniculatus, Combretumroxburghii and Ventilagodenticulata were studied for screening of endophytic fungal diversity of these plants. Aerial tissues (leaf, petiole and bark) were assessed for endophytic isolation. A total of 218 tissue segments out of 375 were infested with fungi and 245 endophytic fungi were isolated. Average colonization frequency (CF%) was 58.13% and petioles of the climbers were colonized by a great number of endophytic fungi.

Description: As a result of the continuous hike in the cost of gasoline and the adverse effect caused by the emission of greenhouse gases from the burnt fuel into the atmosphere, this necessitated the use of the abundant solar energy from the sun as a source of power to drive a lawn mower. A solar powered lawn mower of 0.109 m2/s field capacity was designed and developed for operational convenience. It is made of a solar panel of 75A/100W capacity which charges the battery of the mower. The solar panel is connected to a charge controller that prevents complete discharge or overcharge of the battery.

Description: This study examined the determinants of cargo dwell time and the performance of Onne seaport, Rivers State, Nigeria. Two hundred and sixteen copies of questionnaire were administered to the operators and the clearing and forwarding agents in the study area to elicit information on the determinants of cargodwell time and performance. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. Findings reveled that males were 73% and females were 27% while majority (45.1%) had working experience of maximum of 10 years. Findings showed that the berth occupancy rate was highest in 2015 (40.86%) while the least was observed in 2017 (18.40%).

Description: The study examined the profitability of coffee production in Tanzania in the context of two farming systems, namely, smallholder pure stand and intercropped farming systems planted with traditional and improved coffee varieties. Data were collected from 381 smallholder coffee growers using a structured questionnaire. The result shows that 77% of respondents practice intercropping farming systems and 23% practice pure stand coffee farming systems.

Description: In the present work, simple sonochemical route was used for synthesizing ZnO nanoparticles, by using the ultrasonication time 7 min at room temperature, atmospheric pressure and neutral pH. The structure and morphology of ZnO nanoparticles were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Some structural characteristics of the ZnO nanoparticles as average crystallite size using Scherrer and Williamson Hall methods, lattice strain, and dislocation density were estimated. XRD analysis confirmed a good crystalline structure (hexagonal) of the obtained ZnO nanoparticles.

Description: Production forecasting using Decline curve is common but limited in accuracy. The Exponential, Harmonic and Hyperbol-ic declines originated by J.J. Arps are three main decline profile types widely used in the industry. Exponential and Har-monic curves are more common than the hyperbolic ones largely because of the ease of fitting oil and gas production profiles with the earlier curves. However, Hyperbolic is the principal Decline curve equation while Exponential and Har-monic, which rarely occur, are special cases of the general Arps’ Decline curve. The difficulty in Hyperbolic fit is in the prediction of the Decline exponent.
